Johnson Crosses 1K Assists in Win at Glen Oaks

Sophomore setter Anna Johnson hit a major milestone Tuesday night in the Roadrunners' 25-16, 25-20 and 26-24 road win over the Glen Oaks Vikings. Her ten assists on the night pushed her over the 1,000 college career assists threshold. The team celebrated with a banner and two players from last year's roster, Sophia Deeds and Taylor Miller, were in the stands with family to mark the occasion.

Johnson, of Niles, had 613 assists in the 2023-2024 season as a freshman, sharing setting duties with SMC career assists leader Emma Beckman (1,498). She has 392 this season for a total of 1,005 to date with at least 14 matches to go.

"We have worked hard the past week focusing on attacking execution and blocking with intention," said Head Coach Jenny Nate. "I was very happy with the results and the multitude of offensive shots, energy, and confidence we played with tonight.  This was a great way to finish the first round of conference play which I believe puts us in a tie for second in the conference as of today. We will be taking on tough competition this weekend and two ranked teams which will help prepare us to head into the next round of conference play next week."

The Roadrunners are now 15-5 overall and 4-2 in MCCAA Western Conference play.
