SMC Volleyball Season Ends at District

The Southwestern Michigan College Volleyball Team finished their season at the Great Lakes District A Tournament with a loss to the Macomb Monarchs 22-25, 14-25,  and 19-25.

"Macomb was tough," Head Coach Jenny Nate said. "We battled that entire match but just couldn't seem to pull ahead or maintain the runs. I am so incredibly proud of what this team accomplished this season. I am so grateful for our sophomore leadership and dedication as we have built this program from the ground up the past two years and for them believing in the dream and vision of what this program can be; they have paved the way for our freshmen and future players to continue to build winning teams and a championship level SMC Volleyball Program.  Our goal is to keep leveling up each season, and we did that this year with a 23-13 overall record, third in the conference with a 7-5 conference record, back to back trips to the postseason tournament, and various players winning several individual awards including Nikki Nate winning MCCAA Western Conference Player of the Year, All MCCAA Team, First Team All Conference, and was a 4 time Player of the Week; Josie West won First Team All Conference and the All Freshman Team; Emma Beckman won Second Team All Conference; and Bianca Hobson won Second Team All Conference. They will take a well-deserved break for a few weeks and then we will back working on strength, conditioning, and focused in on our spring season. The future is bright for SMC Volleyball, and we will be back."

The Roadrunners finished 23-13 overall.
