Roadrunners Win District Championship

Prepare to hang another banner. 

 

On Sunday, SMC Wrestling followed up their three-peat as MCCAA Champs by heading over to Palatine, Illinois, and taking down nationally-ranked #11 Triton College, #17 Harper, #22 Joliet and six other Midwest teams to claim the 2025 Great Lakes District Championship. The Roadrunners finished with a team score of 153.5 to Triton's 139.0, Harper College had 108.0 and Muskegon scored 105.0.

 

SMC finished third in the district in 2023 and second to Triton last season. This year, the Roadrunners broke through and took the title. 

 

Coach Todd Hesson was named Great Lakes District Coach of the Year.

 

All 10 of SMC's wrestlers placed in the top three in their weight class.

The team will now prepare for the NJCAA National Championships in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on March 7 and 8.
