Bio

A native of Louisiana, SMC’s new full-time head coach played basketball at Concordia College in Selma, Alabama. After graduating from Liberty University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2013, Jenkins continued at Liberty and earned a Master of Arts in Theology in 2015.

Jenkins began coaching in 2013 at Broadmoor High School in Baton Rouge and moved to Head Coach at Bethany Christian School in Baker, Louisiana, in 2014. After one season, he had the opportunity to restart the men’s basketball program at Kansas Christian College in Overland Park, where he served for three seasons. In 2017, he coached both the men’s and women’s teams at Lone Star College in Houston.  Jenkins was then the head coach at Kaskaskia College located in Centralia, Illinois, an NJCAA Division 1 institution and member of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference. During his tenure at Kaskaskia, he led the turnaround of the Blue Angels from a 5-23 team in 2018-19 into a winning 17-14 squad in 2022-23.

In his first season at SMC, the Roadrunners finished 27-5 overall, won the MCCAA West by going 10-2 in conference, and ended with a home record of 15-1. The team then won the Great Lakes B District Tournament as the #1 seed and earned a trip to the NJCAA National Championship in Joplin, Missouri, going 1-1 and finishing #16 in the country. The 2023-2024 squad set numerous school and individual records, including single game scoring (111), team two-point FG made in a game (43), team free throws made in a game (21), fewest points allowed in a game (18), team assists in a game (31), team rebounds in a game (67) and team steals in a game (25).

Coach Jenkins was named Great Lakes District B Coach of the Year and Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Women's Junior College Coach of the Year in 2024. He was selected by the NCAA, with input from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) to coach in the prestigious Women's Basketball Academy in South Carolina in July 2024.
