WBB Rocks the GRCC Raiders

SMC Women's Basketball held Western Conference Player of the Week Ava Schultz to just 7 points on her home floor as they completed the regular season sweep of the Raiders in Grand Rapids on Wednesday, 48-40.
 
The Roadrunners were up by as many as nine in Q2 and took a 21-17 lead into the locker room. The game was tight after three periods, but SMC was able to pull away in Q4 for that most valuable of victories: a conference road W.
SMC was led by freshman Shiyah Forte, who double-doubled with 13 points and 11 rebounds. freshmen Livy Robinson and Kayla Johnson each had eight, while sophomore Amara Palmer and freshman Maggie Weller each added seven. SMC shot just 33% from the field and had 21 turnovers, but made up for it by cleaning the glass (with 50 rebounds) and hitting 14 points from the stripe.
 
The Roadrunners, now at 6-4 in the conference, next get the KVCC Cougars at home on Saturday, February 15, for a chance to avenge the road loss earlier this season.
