Roadrunners Double Down Up North

SMC Women's Basketball made a long trip north over the weekend and made the most of it, picking up two wins in as many tries.

On Friday against the North Central Michigan Timberwolves, SMC led by eight points after Q1 and just kept stretching the lead, especially in the second half, eventually putting away the home team by 29, 81-52. The Roadrunners were led on Friday by freshman guard Rayvan Rush with 27 points, who went 11-20 from the field and 5-6 from the line. Sophomore Caley Strahan double-doubled off the bench with 16 points and 13 rebounds, while freshman guard Livy Robinson added 14.

On Saturday at Kirtland, the Roadrunners were again unwelcome guests and torched the Firebirds 77-49. Rush led all scorers with 27 points, freshman Shiyah Forte went off for 20 points and seven rebounds, and freshmen Maggie Weller and Strahan each added 10 points.

SMC, now 10-2, has a short break for finals and then travels to face the Owens Express on December 19 at 5:30pm.
