Women's Basketball Jolts the Jayhawks

SMC Women's Basketball started off Feast Week with a victory over Muskegon on Saturday afternoon, handing the Jayhawks their first loss of the season, 60-47. The Roadrunners were down two after Q1, but their press defense stifled the Jayhawks in Q2 and the home team took a nine-point lead into the locker room.

 

SMC kept the pressure on and Muskegon just could not get the ball down the court consistently, allowing the Roadrunners to grab a 17-point lead in the third quarter and to win by 13. SMC was led by freshman Rayvan Rush with 20 points, five steals and five rebounds. Freshman Shiyah Forte just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds, and freshmen Maggie Weller and Caley Strahan each had eight points off the bench. 

 

 

SMC moves up to a 6-2 record and next hosts the Community Christian Lions on Wednesday, 11/27 at 5pm.
