Karmine Brown Picks SMC

Karmine Brown of Buchanan High School has signed his NJCAA Letter of Intent to continue his academic and basketball career in 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse with Coach Rodell Davis and the Roadrunners.

Coach Reid McBeth said, "Karmine continued to grow as both a student and a basketball player during his time at Buchanan. He had a tremendous senior season earning a place on BCAM's All-State Team. We are excited he can continue his basketball journey playing at the next level."

Coach Davis added, "I am looking forward to having Karmine wear the green and gold. He is a great person and will bring a winning attitude to the locker room every day. Karmine is a really good shooter and will help fill that void on our roster. He plays with great pace and cannot be sped up by opponents. His growth as a player is well-documented and his best basketball is still ahead of him."

Brown is the fifth member of the 2025 SMC Men's Basketball recruiting class, joining Jovohn Ratliff and Jaylen Ingram from Hillcrest, Josh Dennis of Wayne and Bryce Hayes of Chicago.

The Men's Basketball Roadrunners have had three consecutive winning seasons since reviving the program in 2022 after a 26-year hiatus. In the 2024-25 campaign, SMC knocked off #2-ranked South Suburban on the road, breaking the Bulldogs' 65-game home win streak. They finished with an overall record of 16-13 and set 35 team and individual school records during the year.
