SMC Men Finish Season by Defeating Two Rivals

SMC Men's Basketball finished their 2024-25 campaign by beating their two closest geographic rivals in successive games.

The team had lost a couple of close ones in the last month, but wasn't about to let that happen on Sophomore Day in the 1st Source Fieldhouse as they beat the visiting Glen Oaks Vikings 67-62 in a nailbiter. The Roadrunners were down 3 at the half but battled back to tie the game with 10 minutes to go and again with 7 minutes. SMC built a small lead, but Glen Oaks came back and knotted it at 1:26. RJ Davis put the Roadrunners ahead for good at 1:12 with a 3-pointer from the left side, and then the home team sank their throws down the stretch to preserve the win. SMC was led by sophomore Aries Hull with 16 points, freshman Davion Goins with 15 points and 5 rebounds, and sophomore Prince Adams with 10 and nine, just one carom shy of a double-double.

Then the Roadrunners made it 4-for-4 and completed the full basketball sweep of LMC this season with a road win on Tuesday, 70-63. The Roadrunners trailed with a few minutes left in the first half, but put on a burst to take a 30-26 lead into the break. SMC then built to a 10-point margin with 10 minutes to go and finished out the game with good defense, free throws and overall hustle. Hull went off for 26 points and 11 rebounds, making him SMC's season and career scoring leader. Sophomore RJ Davis added 13 in his final game and Goins tacked on 10 points.

The Roadrunners finish the 2024-25 campaign with a winning 16-13 overall record, 5-9 in the tough Western Conference.
