Men's Basketball Still Hunting Conference Win
SMC Men's Basketball suffered two losses this week as the team digs into the MCCAA Western Conference schedule.
On Wednesday in Battle Creek, the team fell to the Kellogg Bruins, 84-66. Sophomore Aries Hull led the Roadrunners with 14 points, sophomore Kenji Ward-Sims added 13 and freshman Davion Goins and sophomore RJ Davis put in 11 each.
Back at home on Saturday, SMC dropped another one to the Grand Rapids Raiders, 74-62. The Roadrunners found themselves down 10 early in the game, but righted the ship and played even with GRCC from there, heading to the locker room down nine. The Green and Gold charged back and pulled to within one early in the second half, but couldn't get all the way over the hump. The Roadrunners battled hard all afternoon, but the Raiders hit some contested bombs late in the game and pulled away at the end. Sophomores Aries Hull and Rodell Davis, Jr. led the team with 14 points each, while sophomores Kenji Ward-Sims and Prince Adams added 10 each.
SMC, now 11-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference, next heads to Kalamazoo and a date with the KVCC Cougars on Wednesday, January 22.
