SMC MBB Beats the Bruins in Battle Creek

SMC MBB Beats the Bruins in Battle Creek

The SMC Men's Basketball Team also got some payback Saturday, defeating the Kellogg Bruins in Battle Creek, 72-66, to move to 14-9 overall and 5-3 in the Western Conference.

The Roadrunners found themselves in a 7-1 hole to start the game, but buckled down and trailed by just two at the break. SMC was able to grab a 3-point lead with about 10 minutes to go and pushed it to 8 with 3 minutes left, hitting enough free throws down the stretch to secure the road win.

Freshman Rodell Davis, Jr. again led the Roadrunners with 25, coming off the bench and hitting 4-9 (44%) from downtown. Sophomore Mari Nichols had 17, freshman Prince Adams double-doubled with 13 points and 10 boards, and sophomore Rashawn Bost added 10 points.

The Green and Gold are now tied for 2nd in the West and currently hold the tiebreaker over Glen Oaks. SMC gets a bye this Wednesday to recharge and get ready to travel to conference-leading KVCC next Saturday, February 17.
