MBB Completes Regular Season Sweep of Chargers

SMC Men's Basketball earned a road W in Plymouth on Wednesday night, short-circuiting the Chargers of Marian Ancilla, 87-78. The Roadrunners got an early lead and kept pushing to go up 16 at the half. The Chargers started their own run with about 11 minutes left and were able to cut the lead to just five, but SMC kept calm and finished out the victory in Plymouth.

Strong guard play was the story of the game. SMC freshman Rodell Davis, Jr. went off for 25 points, going 6 of 7 from the field, hitting all six 3-pointers he attempted and all seven free throws. Sophomore Mari Nichols poured in 21 on 9 of 16 from the field and sophomore Rashawn Bost had 16 points, hitting 50% from behind the arc, plus seven assists. Freshman Aries Hull added nine points and pulled down 12 rebounds. As a team, SMC shot 56% from downtown.

With winning both basketball games Wednesday, SMC completed the all-sport regular season sweep of Marian Ancilla, besting the Chargers in every team competition in men's cross country, women's cross country, volleyball, wrestling, women's basketball and men's basketball.

The Green and Gold now get back to work as they head to Battle Creek for a rematch with the Kellogg Bruins on Saturday, February 10.
