Roadrunners Chop Down "The Oaks"

Roadrunners Chop Down "The Oaks"

The SMC Men's Basketball team made it three conference wins in a row by defeating Glen Oaks 76-70 on Wednesday.

The Roadrunners started out fast with the first five points of the game, but the Vikings came right back in what was to be a tight game. SMC led 34-28 at the break, and it was back-and-forth, tied at 59 with 8 minutes to go and again at 70 with just 1:12 left. Coming out of the TO, SMC freshman Prince Adams took the inbounds and hit a floater from the lane to give the Roadrunners the high ground, from which they nailed their free throws down the stretch while preventing any more points from the Vikings.

SMC was led by Adams with 20 points and 6 rebounds, sophomore Mari Nichols added 15, and sophomore Rashawn Bost added 14 points and had 4 steals. Sophomore Mikel Forrest poured in 15 off the bench.

SMC is now 12-8 overall and 3-2 in the Western Conference. Next up is a trip to Lake Michigan College to take on the Red Hawks at around 3pm on Saturday, February 3.
